The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results for the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External. More than 84,000 candidates took part in the examination, with over half achieving at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language. Examination Overview
NECO administered the SSCE External between November 14 and December 14, 2024. The results were officially announced by the Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, during a press briefing at the organization’s headquarters in Minna.
Candidate Performance Summary
A total of 86,067 students registered for the examination, out of which 84,799 sat for the tests.
Key performance statistics include:
57,114 candidates (67.35%) earned at least five credits, including English and Mathematics.
70,711 candidates (83.39%) secured five credits or more, irrespective of English and Mathematics.
In the English Language exam, 83,220 candidates participated, with 62,929 (75.62%) achieving a credit or higher.
For Mathematics, 83,024 students took the test, and 77,988 (93.93%) obtained a credit or higher.

Examination Malpractice Cases
A total of 6,160 candidates were found to have engaged in malpractice, marking a 27.7% reduction from the 8,518 cases reported in 2023.
In response to these cases, NECO has taken disciplinary actions, including:
Recommending the blacklisting of seven supervisors from states including Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi.
Blacklisting fourteen examination centers—ten in Ogun and four in Oyo—due to widespread irregularities in nine different subjects.
