About the Prize
The Nigeria Prize for Literature follows a rotating cycle, recognizing excellence in four literary categories: Prose Fiction, Poetry, Drama, and Children’s Literature. For 2025, the competition centers on Prose Fiction.
Prize Award
- The winner will receive $100,000 for the best work of prose fiction authored by a Nigerian.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be Nigerian citizens and provide a copy of either a Nigerian passport or National Identity Card.
- Submit one published book (unpublished manuscripts are ineligible).
- Ensure the book was published in 2022 or later.
- Not submit books that were previously entered for the competition, even if revised or republished.
- Not be members of the Advisory Board, Panel of Judges, or NLNG staff and their immediate family members.
